Google Loon Project In India
Government has asked Google to select a telecommunications operator as a partner to test technology based Internet globe, Loon Project in the country."Google wants to test the Loon Project in the bands of expensive and scarce spectrum. We have been asked to be associated with any telecommunications operator that can meet your requirements and then approach the government to prove Loon" an official source told PTI.The official said that if Google wants to conduct a test with BSNL, can carry out the experiment in the spectrum held by the state company."This approach should resolve the spectrum band requested by Google, as well as security, to some extent," he added.
An email sent to Google was no answer. In India, Google has approached the government to establish the Loon project that has the potential to replace mobile towers because it can transmit directly from the signal in 4G mobile phones. The Telecom Ministry has formed a special group secretary and asked BSNL to look to provide the necessary support for the experiment. Meeting in this regard were held in October and November. The project reached a checkpoint after Google tried to carry out the test 700 Mhz or 800 MHz instead of 2500 MHz have BSNL.The band 700 Mhz is the most expensive and efficient spectrum of telecommunications services and has not yet been assigned to any service provider. Telecom regulator Trai has suggested the inclusion of this spectrum in the upcoming auction at a minimum price of Rs 11,485 crore per MHz and a company required to purchase a minimum of 5 Mhz.Google, under its Project Loon is using large balloons floating at an altitude of 20 km above the surface of the earth for the transmission of Internet services. Already it tested this technology in New Zealand, California (US) and Brazil.According to Google, each balloon can provide connectivity to an area of ??land of about 40 km in diameter using a wireless communication technology called LTE or 4G.Google uses solar and wind power panel for electronic equipment on the globe throughout the day.
