Burnout in our career field has almost nothing to do with the physical aspect of the job. it has mostly to do with the average paramedic's initial expectations as to what the jib really is not being met.. Ems is known to have a high burnout rate. i've seen stats saying the average career in ems only lasts about 5 years. a year or so ago i saw an article that ranked emt/paramedic as the 7 worst job (out of 250) in the us.. With a burnout rate averaging only a few years, there will be less experienced paramedics and emts to work with the elderly. but those within the industry share a different view on what causes burnout..
