Samsung and Apple sparred in court for what felt like the better part of the last decade, with Apple accusing Samsung of copying its designs. It doesnt appear that Samsung learned its lesson. The company unveiled its Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 smartphones on Friday, and they look exactly like iPhone 6s/iPhone 6s Plus rip-offs.
The Galaxy C5, as its name implies, is the smaller of the two with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 617 processor, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, 4GB of RAM, a 16MP camera, an 8MP front-facing camera and a 2,600mAh battery. The Galaxy C7 basically Samsungs iPhone 6s Plus features a Snapdragon 625 processor, a larger 5.7-inch 1080p display, the same cameras, 4GB of RAM and a larger 3,300mAh battery. Both phones will be available in 32GB or 64GB flavors. Thats all fine and dandy, but its the design thats a clear rip-off.
Like the HTC A9, these phones are no doubt inspired by the iPhones design, right down to the antenna bands, speaker grilles and metallic accents. At quick glance, a user would probably mistake these for an iPhone, save for the rectangular home button and the centered rear camera, the two giveaway features that these arent actually iPhones at all. Nice looking phones, at least. The Galaxy C5 should start at about 2,199RMB ($335) while the Galaxy C7 is priced at 2,599 RMB ($396).
For comparison, heres the iPhone 6s:
